I'm a fucking ghost. Boo and shit.

[He turns just enough to reach out and poke Wash in the arm. And then he returns to regular conversation, as if being invisible is just normal for him. This is fine.]

And yeah they don't run out of ammo, but you do run out of knives, eventually.

[Kyna laughs, rolling her eyes.]

So spooky. I'm fucking terrified.

[ Oh, he's just invisible -- that, Wash is familiar enough with. Freelancer had active camouflage, which meant the space pirates did, too. God knows he fought an invisible Locus often enough. He eases back against the counter, though as he continues the conversation his eyes are scanning for any hint of Tucker's current location. Trying not to seem too visibly unnerved by the possible threat. It's just Tucker. ]

Well I asked her to teach me how to fight with all blades. Not just throwing knives.

[Sorry, Wash, Tucker is a rogue- his whole job is being silent, pretty much. Well, maybe half stealth, and half parkour. Whatever, the point is, he's hard to detect unless he's talking. Which luckily he does.]

So you know how to use like, a sword, too? Or do you just mean knife-type blades?

[evocation]

[Kyna's not really focusing on the spell, so it lapses, and Tucker reappears. She'll throw another question on Wash's pile.]

Did you learn from Carolina?

Just knife-type blades. Swords aren't a thing anymore, though I did run into the occasional battle axe. People like to be unique.

I could probably learn swords here. Might be fun.

[ He goes very still and quiet for a moment at Kyna's question, then shakes his head. ]

[W e l p. Tucker knows what that sudden stiffness means. Time for a rapid subject change.]

Yeah, there's a bunch of swords in that armory, down across the river. Battle axes too, if you're feeling nostalgic. No guns, though. I checked.

[Because of course he did.]

People still use swords where we're from, but they're mostly for monsters. There are some things bullets won't kill. [He shrugs.]

[Shit. Whoops. Of course Tucker picks up on it, and of course he saves her from her own screw up. It's like a well practiced routine with them at this point. Kyna doesn't want to make it worse, so she just lets Tucker carry the conversation, leaning into Wash slightly as a silent apology.]

[ It's cool, guys, he's fine. He's got a lot of dead friends, this sort of thing happens. ]

Luckily I'm covered on the gun front. Could stand to stockpile some more ammo, though.

[Tucker has decided that the eggplant is done frying, so he starts layering it into the glass dish with the pasta sauce and some herbs he stole out of a garden in the orchard. Nobody'll miss them, right?]

I've heard that Rage'll give you bullets if you kill something. [He frowns.] Something like a monster outta the caves, probably. The problem with that being you'd probably waste ammo to do it.

[evocation]

Wait, what?

[That's the first she's heard of this.]

Why didn't you just have me go kill something and get the ammo for you?

Yeah, she does. I've gone hunting a few times since she got back already, killing shit with knives but I should do it more. It's only one clip a corpse.

[ He's been spending most of his non-training time with Kyna lately. ]

Oh, well that doesn't seem like a fair price.

[He got two whole boxes for surviving that paintball thing.]

And I didn't have you get me any because I've got some for now. Also: stay out of the caves, your ribs are broken.

I'm not gonna go now. Jeez.

[Everyone is so protective!]

[ Unfortunately, Wash missed paintball. ]

We can go when you're healed, if you want. What kind of bullets do you need, Tucker?

Maybe we can call up HH, make it a party.

[Unless it's supposed to be a date. In which case whoops.]

My revolver fires .38 special. But like I said, I'm good for now.

[He doesn't like owing people, mostly.]

[She shrugs.]

You should have extra, though. It's gonna suck if you need ammo and don't have it.

Oh. Sure? Might be tight in there is all.

[ He's not certain four people could move stealthily through the tunnels, but if Tucker wants to make it a party Wash isn't going to argue. ]

I mean I guess. And don't worry, we've got this 'four people creeping around in tight spaces' thing down.

[He pops the glass dish in the oven.]

Wait, shit. I forgot cheese.

[Fuck!]

Four? With Bell it was five, and Corbet's loud as fuck. And huge.

[hardwearing]

[ Wash tilts his head, not recognizing those names. ]

There are more people on your team?

[nowherewolf]

Yeah, there were, back home.

[He's frustrated about the cheese, but oh well. He counts off on his fingers.]

There's me, Kyna, and Harlan. We've been there since the start. Corbet's our big sword guy, he clears a path, but K's right, he's big and noisy as fuck. Bell's a healer, she came with us on a couple jobs, but she's not a permanent member. She's a gnome, though, so she has an easier time with the small spaces.

[He pauses.] I'm not being mean, gnomes are really just like four feet tall.

[evocation]

Yeah.

[Kyna starts to tick names off on her fingers.]

When we started out it was us and Corbet's brother, Arkent, but I guess he got sick of our shit or something. And then Reggie, but he was a cat for a while, and when we fixed him he dipped. And uh... Panna. I guess she counts. And then Panna tried to make us work with this total fucking dickbag named Morg, but that lasted about three seconds.

[Now he's caught up.]

[ Huh. She's never mentioned any of those people, but he supposes he didn't ask for more information on her team. Just assumed it was the three of them... silly, really, considering how many people on his team back home. And Kyna knows about all of them now. Wash files the names away to ask more later, but for now: ]

A cat?

[ He's never actually met a cat. ]
