[Similarly, Rome has never really been near another wolf like this unsupervised. For the most part, they were kept separate during mandatory shifts for fear that they would be able to bond closer in this form, in ways that their handlers wouldn't be able to control. Having unfettered interaction with Tucker is going to be... odd, but not anything he can't adapt to.
He can sense the other wolf at a distance at first and turns his attentions toward him, keeping an acceptable amount of space between the two of them. Tucker is luckily somewhat familiar by now, even if his instincts don't recognize the other man as pack. He's an outsider, but it seems- not a distinctly threatening one.
Rome circles a little warily, aware of his weakened state in the back of his mind- though if push came to shove, he knows his training will likely even out his physical handicaps. That's worst-case scenario though, and not something that seems to be happening here.
He remembers what Tucker said, that it's the same person, just a different skin, and forces his own immediate emotional reaction and instincts back. It takes him another moment or so to feel a bit more at ease, but when he does, he slowly lowers his front legs and head to the ground so as to seem nonthreatening for a first introduction. It's an invitation to come closer as much as anything else and Rome whuffs, pushing forward a little, tail twitching- more friendly than anything else.]
[Tucker tries not to seem nervous or anything while Rome circles around him. He's not sure how far that whole thing with the emotions and instincts being closer to the surface goes. What if Rome really is more aggressive and dangerous in his other form? At least he looks like something safe and familiar, not the bipedal beasts from back home.
When Rome hunkers down with his tail moving, Tucker takes that as a sign that they're cool, and it's fine to move forward. He does the same lowering gesture before popping up and trotting over, sniffing briefly at Rome's muzzle. It's a greeting he's seen dogs do, and as creatures raised among humans, they might as well be similar.
Being this close gives him a chance to notice Rome's missing eye, the severed toes, the marks through his coat. Poor dude really has been through the wringer, hasn't he? Maybe Tucker can take his mind off of it for a while, and take care of his own restless energy. He's got an idea.
After a couple moments of sniff-greeting, Tucker moves a few steps away, then turns back to look at Rome over his shoulder. Follow me.]
